Consciousness
Analogy
I have talked a lot in Turtle Digest about the fact that the scientific
evidence shows that all humans share one consciousness. That in fact our
conscious awareness is the consciousness that comes from the one and only
consciousness. But how could this be? It seems so impossible because you
and I are two different individuals that think our own thoughts. So I
have come up with an analogy to help you understand how you could be an
individual and still be part of the whole.
Imagine for a moment that you are a television signal. You would be everywhere,
in the air, going through buildings, cars, people, etc. You can see hundreds
of televisions all over town. Now see yourself going into these television
sets all over town. Then see yourself going through the circuit of each
of the televisions to make a picture, i.e. becoming a part of the TV set.
What do you see now? As you become a part of each TV you are no longer
a signal in the air. You are no longer looking at hundreds of TVs but
only one. You are still who you are, one huge signal as big as the town
but your perspective has changed. You are now a part of hundreds of TVs
and you feel like an individual in each and every one of the hundreds
of TVs. As an individual picture, coming from one TV set, you are not
aware of any other TV set, and you perceive the TV set as your body. The
circuit of the TV set is preventing you from seeing your whole, the TV
signal in the air.
This analogy is not perfect but it is the best one I have been able to
come up with. The number one problem is that consciousness is in many
dimensions, which our three-dimensional brain cannot conceptualize. It
is a very complex quantum event.
