The middle word is subliminal because in many tests before it took the shorter time. But wait, what if choice, the under-standing of the meaning, is not a part of the brain? Aware-ness would be what chooses the meaning of the last word, and if it can’t see the middle word, to give it a clue, the result would be the same as in step 2, the longer time. In other words, if Consciousness is just a part of the brain and the brain can see the middle word the result will be the faster time - as before, but if Consciousness is a separate thing from the brain it would not be able to see the middle word, and the result will be the longer time.
